“Long wooded courses are my inspiration for course design. Especially coming from Maple Hill. When I'm designing; I try to picture natural flights of discs. The less trees to be cut down, the better. As that adds work. I attempt to use the biggest trees to almost define the fairways. While using big trees to define fairways I still have to use the land I work with. With that being said, I like giving options on holes to entice the golfer to try different shots. Also knowing who I'm designing for plays a big factor. As I'll try to keep it short & fun for beginners. If I'm trying to challenge a higher caliber player, I'll add length but only if it makes sense. Having the fairway shape the natural flight of a disc.”
